Hugh and Dina, both born and raised in Pittsburgh, had always dreamed of starting a business together. When COVID put Hugh’s career in event marketing on hold, it felt like the right time to take a leap into entrepreneurship.
Hugh rented a truck and started hauling junk for friends and neighbors. He quickly realized the huge need for easy, stress-free junk removal in Pittsburgh. What began as a side project soon grew into a thriving business built on hard work, reliability, and a commitment to supporting the community.
Over time, Pittsburgh Junk Company built a strong reputation for being a dependable and approachable choice for junk removal. In 2025, Dina joined Hugh at the business full-time, bringing nearly two decades of experience in operations and human resources to the team. Now, it’s a true family-run business!
Today, Hugh oversees the day-to-day operations to ensure customers get quality service, while Dina focuses on growth and building a great workplace for their team.
They live in Mt. Lebanon with their two young children, proud to raise a family and build a business in their hometown.
Charges are based on the amount of space your items fill in our truck. Every estimate includes labor, hauling, donation and/or recycling arrangements, and disposal costs. Certain items, such as TVs, propane tanks, or paint, may incur an additional environmental fee.

We remove furniture (sofas, mattresses, tables), appliances (washers, refrigerators), electronics (TVs, computers), yard waste, construction debris, and general household clutter.
For safety and legal reasons, we don’t accept hazardous materials. This includes asbestos, medical waste, explosives, drug paraphernalia, and firearms.
With us, you don’t lift a thing. We manage all the loading, hauling, and proper disposal. Plus, you avoid having a dumpster or bag sitting in your driveway for days.
